Who are we at Mother Forward?
We are moms who care. Moms who love. Moms who act.
Mother Forward came to be in the most mom-way possible: from a Reddit post about a tuition increase for childcare. But the Reddit poster wasn’t just looking for solidarity, she was looking for action. “Who wants to get together and do something about this?” resulted into a Zoom call in January 2023 and we have been running ever since.
We started with a focus on winning affordable, accessible, and fair-paying childcare as “Campaign for Childcare”. After organizing around that for almost a year, we learned a couple things: moms were the ones primarily showing up to do the work and they needed more. They needed paid family leave. We heard too many stories of moms going back to work too shortly after giving birth or even getting fired after disclosing their pregnancy. So we became “Mother Forward” and we added paid family leave as our second campaign.
Our bread and butter is simple: moms taking action. Moms analyzing power. Moms planning actions. Moms talking to their friends and inviting them in. We believe that moms are powerful change makers, and we want you to join us, the community, and the action.

We envision a world where motherhood is honored in homes, in communities, and in our society. By honoring motherhood, we believe that our society will come together in unity so that all people live fulfilled lives and all families thrive.

We believe that when moms thrive, we all thrive. By centering the leadership, skills, and talents of moms, we are building a community of motherly support that mobilizes to pass federal and local policies that support families and create economic security.
