Who are we at Mother Forward?
We are moms who are fed up with a society that does not honor or appreciate the work we do inside and outside the home. We are moms who are sick and tired of making ourselves sick and tired over the stress of another tuition increase at daycare while knowing that the workers who care for our children are being paid poverty wages. We are moms who have had enough with not having the paid time off that we need to take care of our loved ones while also managing a job. We are moms who are showing up to get sh*t done (because apparently no one else is).
Mother Forward is the real deal. When something gets done here, it’s because someone like you stepped up and did it. We run the meetings, we make the signs and posters, we make the stickers, the website, and the logo. We call each other, we follow-up with each other, we work together, we make it happen.
And we are creative together, have fun together, do meaningful work together, and we are powerful together.
There’s lots to do. Maybe you can talk to folks in our subreddit. Maybe you can help with signs. Maybe you can invite people to our meetings. Maybe you can do some research. You can definitely help with brainstorming. Bring your whole self and let’s make a difference.
** Please note that if you identify as a mother, mama, grandmother, aunt, caregiver, parent, mentor, or advocate for children and families, then join us in Mother Forward. We are inclusive and excited to build with any and all who see themselves as mothering in a new world .**
Our Vision
We envision a world where motherhood is honored in homes, in communities, and in our society. By honoring motherhood, we believe that our society will come together in unity so that all people live fulfilled lives and all families thrive.
Our Pledge
We value each other’s commitment to creating a better world for our children. We have each other’s backs because we believe in the dignity of life and the safety of future generations. We know we won’t agree on all things all the time, but together we pledge to build a caring economy that honors the work of motherhood and caregiving.
Our Mission
We believe that when moms thrive, we all thrive. By centering the leadership, skills, and talents of moms, we are building a community of motherly support that mobilizes to pass federal and local policies that support families and create economic security.
Our Values
- Unity
- Empathy
- Justice
